Maintaining the fiscal and financial integrity of MxCC has been the focus of Kim Hogan’s long-running career at the College.
She meets this mission in her current role as Interim Dean of Administrative Services by monitoring and managing the College’s budgets, providing direct oversight to the accounting, A/R, A/P, payroll and purchasing process. She is a member of the strategic planning team, helping the College meet all of its short- and long-term financial and physical plant needs.
Kim has indirect oversight of the College’s contract services, such as the Follett bookstore operation, food service, vending machines, copy machines, cleaning and security. Additionally, when the College needs to make campus renovations or improvements, she is the one to organize the facilities project management.
Kim first joined MxCC in 1998 as a Financial Clerk. She quickly moved on to become a Fiscal Administrative Assistant and then Fiscal Administrative Officer. In this role, she prepared payroll for the entire College, and was responsible for reports and audits of payroll accounts.
Since Kim wants the College to succeed on many levels beyond financial, she has served and/or chaired various committees designed to enhance the overall MxCC community. Some of her committee work includes the Leadership Team, many employee search committees, the Academic Strategic Plan, Foundation Scholarship, Faculty and Staff Development, Promotion, Tenure and Sabbatical committees, the Building Enhancement committee, College Council, and the Annual Golf Tournament Planning Committee. Kim is currently the staff liaison to the Middlesex Institute for Lifelong Learning (MILE).
During her tenure with the College, Kim served as one of the Math Academy Coordinators, organizing this eight-week grant program on the MxCC campus through the Continuing Education Department for approximately 50 sixth-grade students. Additionally, she was a lecturer for MxCC’s non-credit Supervision Certificate and Active Leadership for Management Certificate programs.
Off campus, Kim is a member of the Middlesex United Way Women’s Initiative and is a College representative with the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce. She participated in the “Connecting Kids2College” program for 8th graders of the Portland School System. Kim was also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Board of Regents Presidential Search in 2013.
In her off time Kim enjoys boating, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Prior to joining MxCC, Kim worked as Service Operations Supervisor at the Navy Exchange in New London. There she managed and directed various departments to serve nearly 25,000 active duty or retired military and their families. She also was a security supervisor and the lead detective of the retail surveillance team of detectives, debt collection agents and internal auditors.
In 2010, Kim was awarded the 4C’s “Member of the Year” award. She was elected by peers to serve as College Council Chair during two terms (2002-2003 and 2009-2010) and she served as Board of Trustees Presidential Leadership Academy intern and peer mentor.
Kim earned her master’s of science degree in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT, and her bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in Glassboro, New Jersey.
