Yvonne Page started her career at Middlesex Community College as a student worker in 2003. As a single mother of a two-year old studying fine arts full-time at the college, she worked in the Grants department and then transferred to the Marketing department where she was mentored by Marketing Director, Marlene Olson and then Graphic Designer, Don Augusta.
After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts from MxCC in 2005, Yvonne began PageOne Art Studio, which specialized in graphic design, photography, illustration, and web design. She was able to work with many local non-profits including Gilead Community Services and Operation Fuel as well as having her work published in national magazines and she maintained a client base that spread throughout the country. Additionally, she was able to share her love of art with the children in the community by teaching at Oddfellows Playhouse, Green Street Art Center, and with the North End Arts Rising Summer Children’s Arts program in Middletown.
As her business grew, MxCC once again entered into Yvonne’s life as she took them on as a graphic design/public relations client, helping the Marketing department fill in services where needed. In December 2010, she was hired part-time by the college as the Graphics Specialist. Two years later, she was made the full-time Webmaster and Graphics Specialist. As she likes to say, “I love this college so much, they just couldn’t get rid of me. I just stuck around until they finally made me full-time.”
Outside of work Yvonne enjoys spending her time with her family and friends who include the love of her life, Jim and their three boys, Jacquai, James, and Roland as well as the family cat, Sophie, and eating as much cheese pizza and pancakes as possible. An avid reader, Yvonne is happy to read anything she can get her hands on from novels to picture books and hopes someday to write and illustrate some children’s books. You can see her illustration work at yvonnepage.com. Other hobbies include baking, swimming, walking/running, singing and dancing with the kids, sewing, and experimenting with making all natural household and body products. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts from Charter Oak State University.
