Jan 20, 2009 – The Middlesex Community College Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program has a new, fully equipped training site at the facility dedicated entirely to the program, thanks the generous help and support of Essex Meadows Lifecare Retirement Community.
The College faculty and students are excited to have this professionally equipped training room for their own use at Essex Meadows. This state-of-the-art facility allows CNA students a chance to practice their skills before providing hands-on care to the residents. “It’s just like a patient’s room. It really has enhanced the training environment,” states Joyce Brinley, LPN, MxCC Clinical Instructor.
Essex Meadows Director of Nursing, Carol Gordon, RN agrees, “It gives them an environment to learn how to be good CNA’s. We love having the CNA program here. Both sides benefit.”
Government economists expect the job growth for nursing aides will increase faster than the average for all careers. As the elderly population increases, experts predict so will the need for nursing aides. “The CNA program is a great stepping stone for a career in nursing,” adds Brinley.
