Jan 27, 2010 – Middlesex Community College is one of 13 locations at which College Goal Sunday Connecticut will hold its fourth annual walk-in event this weekend, helping current and prospective college students obtain financial aid.
Interested members of the community, whether currently attending college or not, can receive assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at no charge by attending the event.
Besides filling out the FAFSA, whose completion is prerequisite to most financial aid applications, participants in College Goal Sunday will have the opportunity to meet with financial aid counselors who will answer any additional questions related to payment for college.
“College Goal Sunday helps students get a foot in the door without bearing the whole financial burden of college,” said Michael Amouzou, Associate Director of Financial Aid Services at Middlesex.
Younger students are encouraged to attend with their parents, as household financial information is necessary to complete the FAFSA. More information on what to bring can be found on the College Goal Sunday Connecticut website: www.collegegoalsundayct.com.
“Families must know that a parent’s financial status should never prevent a student from attending college,” Amouzou said.
The event takes place this Sunday, Jan. 31 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm in Wheaton Hall, located on Middlesex Community College’s Middletown campus.
