Jun 17, 2014 – For the first time, Middlesex Community College is offering an accelerated version of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course at the College’s Meriden Center, located downtown at 55 West Main Street. The accelerated program begins on July 14 and ends on August 13 and includes clinical training at Wadsworth Glen in Middletown.
The Certified Nurse Aide training program consists of lectures, skills development, and hands-on clinical training. Through the program, students will learn the proper way to perform nurse aide procedures and become a CNA on the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry.
“The accelerated CNA program appeals to students who are looking for a fast-track educational experience during the summer,” said Diane Bordonaro, R.N., allied health program coordinator. “It is specifically designed for college students majoring in nursing or applying to physician assistant programs who wish to develop their patient care skills. This program also appeals to students looking for entry-level work in the healthcare field. Many of our students choose this program because they are looking for a job or career that allows them to give back to the community by helping others. The role of the nurse aide is very rewarding because CNAs make a difference in the lives of those they care for.”
In addition to the CNA program, MxCC offers non-credit healthcare training in medical billing and coding, patient care technician, and pharmacy technician. The College also offers a variety of degree programs in allied health fields. For more information on the CNA program, please call Diane Bordonaro at 860-343-5716 or visit mxcc.edu/ce.
