Middlesex Community College is pleased to announce that Clifton Brann, a second-year Ophthalmic Design & Dispensing (OD&D) student, has been selected as the national recipient of the 2012 Hoya Vision Care Scholarship Grant.
Brann had previously been named a regional finalist. As a finalist, he received a check for $500 and a Kindle Fire HD Tablet. Brann also received an all-expense paid trip to the ABO-NCLE National Convention in Washington, DC last weekend, where he was selected as the national scholarship winner.
At the convention, Michael Elton, director of professional services at Hoya Vision Care, presented Brann with a scholarship check for $2,500. Brann’s presentation on safety and sports protective eyewear will be use as a continuing education course for opticians throughout the United States. The course will be published by 20/20 Magazine, one of America’s leading optical publications.
“We are so proud of our student’s accomplishment. Clifton did a fine job of representing the college in a spirited competition of students from across the country,” said Raymond Dennis, professor and coordinator of the OD&D program.
