MxCC Snapchat Geofilter Contest

Snapchat_SquareJan 13, 2016 – MxCC invites current students to create an original Middlesex Community College Snapchat geofilter design to be used on campus! Be inspired by our beautiful campus and our diverse student population– the possibilities are endless! We will pick our top 3 favorite geofilters and each winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card!

A Snapchat geo-filter is a filter that can only be added by users in a specific location. Only people on campus or in the area have the option to use the filter. Many cities and colleges are creating geofilters and we would love to add our very own mark to Snapchat.

Design Rules

Participants must follow design rules (from Snapchat):

  • avoid using any logos or slogans;
  • use web-optimized transparent PNG images that are 1080 px width x 1920 px height;
  • use Illustrator files on single art board or Photoshop file on single canvas;
  • give 149 px buffer zone on top and bottom of phone screen and leave borders.

Snapchat provides Photoshop and Illustrator templates to download that are pre-configured with the correct size; they can be downloaded here. This page also gives you the option to submit your artwork; please do not submit your design with this page. Details about where to submit your designs are provided below. In the Illustrator file, it gives examples of borders and what is not acceptable. For complete measurements, click here.
