Steven A. Levy, VMD joined Middlesex Community College as the program coordinator of the new veterinary technology program. This program officially launched last semester under Dr. Levy’s leadership.
Dr. Levy is a globally known, highly respected researcher and educator and is considered the premier Key Opinion Leader on Canine Lyme Borreliosis. He holds numerous professional memberships and has received countless industry awards recognizing his expertise, his cutting edge research and his leadership contributions to the veterinary community and beyond.
Students in this highly-selective associate degree program, which is offered in collaboration between MxCC and Pieper-Olson Veterinary Hospital in Middletown, will benefit from Dr. Levy’s 37 years of veterinary experience. Dr. Levy has many years of experience as a clinical veterinarian, as a practitioner of shelter and humane society medicine, and as a Connecticut State Police K-9 Unit Veterinarian.
Dr. Levy received his bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from Bard College, and his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. He has completed additional studies in laboratory animal medicine and in medical acarology. Throughout his career he has published numerous research studies in peer reviewed journals, including Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, JAVMA, Compendium for Continuing Education, Journal of Medical Microbiology, Journal of Applied Research in Veterinary Medicine and the Merck Veterinary Manual.
