The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and MxCC’s Corporate Media Training Center have recently completed a new educational video designed to assist local fire departments with forest fire protection. This 10-minute video titled “Handline Construction for Forest Fire Control” was used by the National Park Service for their wildland fire training class.
The video features Connecticut’s Interstate Fire Crew on scene at a forest fire demonstrating proper construction techniques and important safety measures. The video was funded by the U.S. Forest Service with the understanding that it could be used by other states.
Middlesex Community College’s Corporate Media Training Center has been partnering with DEEP since 2006. Together, they have completed more than 30 videos on a variety of subjects, from organic land care to ice fishing; from earth day to dinosaur trackways. In addition, they have videotaped nationally known speakers brought in the department’s on-going lecture series. These videos are featured in DEEP’s video library and YouTube.
For more than 15 years, Middlesex Community College’s Corporate Media Training Center has been producing award-winning videos for a variety of clients. Students can act as crew on these productions. Two students, Hollie Kinney and Cindy Gerstl, assisted on the production of the “Handline” video.
