AST*101, Principles of Astronomy   (3 credits)
An introduction to the study of the solar system, the stars, galaxies, nebulae, and newly discovered celestial bodies. Laboratory activities and field trips included. Prerequisite: Eligible for either  ENG*101E or ENG*101 and either MAT* 085 or MAT*095 with a “C-” or better or taken concurrently. OCE*101, Introduction to Oceanography   (3 credits)
An introduction to the chemical, biological, and physical processes at work in the marine environment. Emphasis on near shore and estuarine areas. Three field trips to Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River Estuary. Prerequisite: Eligible for either ENG*101E or ENG*101 and co-enrolled in  MAT* 085 or *095. PSC*101, Physical Science I (3 credits) 
An introduction to physics and chemistry for students with no previous experience in science. Necessary mathematical concepts are taught as part of the course. Recommended for individuals planning a career in elementary education or as a general science elective. Credit not given to students who have already taken any of the following: CHE*111, CHE*112, CHE*121, CHE*122, or PHY* 121, PHY*122Prerequisite: Eligible for either  ENG*101E or ENG*101 and either MAT* 085 or MAT*095 with a “C-” or better or taken concurrently.
