COM*125/DGA*125 New Media Production is a new course, introduced to MxCC last year as part of the Center for New Media. In case you were wondering what new media is or how this class could be useful, I’ve come up with a few reasons why you should absolutely sign up for this class for the spring semester.

Here are the top three reasons why you should take this course:

1. Brand Yourself! Let’s face it–when you graduate from college there’s going to be a lot of competition. Today, hundreds of people are applying for one position. How will you stand out? No matter what field or industry you work in, standing out among the competition is key. When you take New Media Production, you will learn how to use many different digital media such as web design for your portfolio and social media to get your name out there.

2.There’s Two Sections! We are offering two sections, one at the Middletown campus and one online! The online section is great for any student that needs flexibility. And what’s cool is the on-ground class will be taught in the New Media Production Classroom that features top-of-the-line iMacs equipped with the latest production technology and software.

3. It’s Applicable! With the explosive growth of technology, the topics covered in New Media Production are applicable to almost every field. It’s even cross-listed in the catalog under Communication and Digital Arts because it’s relevant to both fields, and more! Another plus is that this class has no prerequisites! So no matter what your major is, this course can count as an elective. If you’re a business major, learn what’s next in communication technology so you can use it when you enter the workforce (and impress your new boss!). If you want to be a teacher, learn about new technology that you can incorporate in the classroom when you land your first teaching gig. Maybe you wind up as an environmental scientist. In that case, you can run your department’s blog on all the awesome things you do at work. The possibilities are endless!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!
