On May 28, you should plan to be on campus or at the rain site by 5:00 p.m. to begin preparation for the ceremony. Please be on time. The ceremony should last approximately an hour and a half. If the weather is questionable, please call the College’s main number (860-343-5800) for a voice mail message. A message will also be displayed on the College’s website at http://mxcc.edu. Graduates will assemble between Wheaton and Snow Halls at 5:00 p.m. to be lined up by your Program Coordinator. Signs will be posted in the ground with the name of your curriculum. Please bring the index card that was given to you at rehearsal. If you cannot attend rehearsal, you may pick up your card at the graduation table near Founders Hall. If you are receiving two degrees, please line up with the curriculum you wish to march with and indicate on the index card the second degree you will receive, so that both degrees will be announced. The diploma case will not have the actual diploma in it. You may pick your diploma up at the reception following graduation.
Please take note:
- Your tassel should be on the right. (If you already have a degree, it can be on the left.) Do NOT move your tassel until the President has shaken every hand and has officially conferred the degrees. She’ll tell you when it’s time.
- Dress for the weather and dress nicely.
- No gum chewing, please, as you come get your diploma.
Please attend a reception for graduates, families and guests immediately following graduation in Chapman Hall, Multipurpose Rooms 808 A, B, C, and D.
