What is myCommNet?
Essentially, myCommNet is a portal that allows students, faculty, and staff to sign onto multiple systems using one logon-NetID. In myCommNet, you will have access to Blackboard , Banner Self-Service, email, and the library databases. MyCommNet serves as a single point of entry for all members of the community college system.

How do I sign on to myCommNet?
1. Open a web browser.
2. Go to my.commnet.edu.
3. Enter your NetID and password, click Login.
email@example.com for student
(If a faculty was first employed at another community college in Connecticut, your will use the same NetID used while you were employed. )

The same password to log on to a campus computer at any of 12 Connecticut community colleges.
If you have never logged on to a campus computer, the initial password is combination of your first 3 letters of birth month (capitalize the first letter), & (shift+7), and last four digit of your social security number.
For example, if you are born in April and the last four digits of your social security number are 4575, then your initial password is Apr&4575 (case sensitive).
After you logon with the initial password, you will be prompted to change to a new password. The new password MUST have 8 or more characters and satisfy 3 of the 4 rules as follows:
- Upper case
- Lower case
- Special characters
- One example of a new password is Flower15 (case sensitive). Remember; do not use your name or birthday in the new password.

Once you are in myCommNet: you are able to access Blackboard, Student/Faculty Self-Service, and Library Databases.
a. Access Blackboard : Click on the Blackboard icon at right panel. Click your course name. To go to another course, click My Institution (upper right) and click the course name. To avoid timeout messages from myCommNet, once you are in your Blackboard course, click Logout in myCommNet window.

*Note1: The Blackboard is off line from 2:00am to 6:00am every Friday for weekly maintenance.
b. Access Student (or Faculty) Self-Service: Click Student (or Faculty) tab. Click the link under Student (or Faculty) Self-Service.
c. Access library databases (off-campus): Click Library tab.
4. Reset Password
(1) Click here to create a new password on your own.
(2) Stop by the following offices with your Photo ID or call the following offices to have your password reset (Mon-Fri, 8:00 am-5:00 pm).

For Faculty and Staff
Call MxCC IT service at 860-343-5711 or stop by Wheaton Hall 304 to have your password reset.
5. Change Password
Logon to my.commnet.edu, click Change Password (top-left).
