Shakespeare in the Grove 2014

ARTFARM’s  signature physical style makes Shakespeare come alive for all audiences, from pre-teens to sophisticated scholars, and King Lear will be no exception. Performances begin at 7 pm Thursday through Sunday, July 17 – 20 & 24 – 27, with live music preceding each performance at 6 pm. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic to enjoy while taking in the Connecticut River Valley.

Special events during the run will include:

– Before the Sunday 7/20 performance: “Take Your Grandparents For a Walk” at 4:30 pm. CT Forest & Park Executive Director Eric Hammerling will lead a 45 minute gentle hike on the trails near the campus, followed by a talk about the play with the Producer. Families with three generations represented will be offered half price tickets to see the play.

– On Tuesday, July 22 at 7 pm Professor John Klause of Hofstra University will present a talk entitled Going to Extremes in King Lear in Founders Hall at Middlesex Community College.

– After the Friday, July 25 performance of King Lear MxCC President Anna Wasescha will facilitate a talk back with the director and cast.
