Poetry Reading and Book Sale and signing

The Creative Writing Club of MxCC invites you to attend a poetry reading and book sale & signing featuring award winning author, Safia Elhillo, Sudanese-American poet.

Refreshments will be served.

Safia Elhillo writes “The January Children are the generation born in Sudan under British occupation, where children were assigned birth years by height, all given the birth date January 1.”

What follows is a deeply personal personal collection of poems that describe the experience of navigating the postcolonial world as a stranger in one’s own land.

Event is free and open to the public.

Supported by the Student Senate.
