The Scholarship Application Process & Required Materials
Our many scholarships are funded by donations from individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and corporations. Scholarship availability is dependent on donor generosity and is therefore subject to change. Scholarships are awarded according to donor intent. Entering, returning, and graduating students are eligible to apply. Click on the “MxCC Scholarship Descriptions” link to the left to see a list of possible scholarships.
Your scholarship application packet must include the following for you to be considered for a scholarship award:
- A completed Scholarship Application form. Use the link below to access the application and other required documents.
- A copy of your current MxCC transcript (copy from Banner Self Service is sufficient) or high school transcript if an entering student. If spring 2017 is your first semester at MxCC, please provide mid-term grades using the Mid-term Grade Report attached to this application.
- At least two recommendations (on the prescribed form attached to this application), one of which must be from a MxCC faculty member if you are presently enrolled at MxCC; a faculty member from another college you’ve attended, or from a high school teacher or guidance counselor. Recommendations must indicate the writer’s relationship to you, e.g., high school or college faculty, employer, volunteer supervisor, etc. Important: Recommendations from relatives and friends will not be accepted. If you are a non-traditional aged student and have been out of school for over five years, an employer recommendation can be submitted in lieu of a faculty member.
- A typed essay, one to two pages in length, double-spaced, describing 1.) Why you should be considered for a scholarship, 2.) How you define success, and 3.) How MxCC would help you achieve your goals and succeed. Please address all three concepts: success, goals, and merit.
