Dr. Sara Hanson
Sara Brinckerhoff joins Middlesex Community College as the academic director of STEM for the School of Allied Health and Business. She grew up in Connecticut, and after a 10-year stay in Las Vegas, has returned to pursue her passion for higher education.
Sara spent the first half of her professional career as a retail store manager, where she specialized in district training, store relocations, and loss prevention. She left Connecticut in 2007 to run a store on the Las Vegas Strip and added new hire training and district visual manager duties to her role. While in Las Vegas, Sara also served as an adjunct instructor for the Fashion Retail Management program at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. She taught classes in business, visual merchandising, sales, marketing, branding, and fashion history.
In 2012, Sara left the retail world to work full-time as the program coordinator for the Fashion Retail Management and Fashion Design programs at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. Aside from teaching, Sara oversaw all new hire onboarding programs on campus, was the chair of the Faculty Development Committee, and served as the e-campus administrator for all aspects of online learning.
Sara earned a BA in political science and a BA in history from Western Connecticut State University and holds an MS in organizational leadership from Argosy University. She is currently completing her EdD in organizational leadership from Argosy, where her studies focus on change management, corporate culture, and leadership. Her dissertation is titled, “A Phenomenological Study Exploring the Corporate Culture of Zappos and Zappos Impact on Downtown Las Vegas.” The study examines the relationship between the leadership theory of Holacracy and Zappos relationship with the revitalization of the Downtown Las Vegas community.
Sara loves to travel and considers herself a national park geek. While traveling back from Las Vegas, she visited Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, and so many other amazing sites with her traveling buddy, Mr. Truman, her miniature dachshund.
