MxCC to Offer CCSU CAD Engineering Course in Middletown This Fall

April 18, 2019 (Middletown, Conn.) — For the first time, Middlesex Community College (MxCC) will offer a Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) engineering course to be taught at the Middletown campus in the Fall 2019 semester that begins on August 27.

The course, Computer Aided Design and Integrated Manufacturing CAD/CAM/CIM (ETM 260), is an introduction to solid modeling for design, drawing, assembly, mass property analysis and manufacturing operations on a CAD/CAM/CIM system. Emphasis is on computer hardware utilization for designing products. No prerequisites are required. While anyone can register for the course, it is ideal for students considering transfer to CCSU’s four-year engineering programs.

“This class features Siemens NX CAD software and is open to anyone interested in engineering. Even general studies students or people working in the industry can take the class,” said Lin Lin, PhD, the MxCC engineering professor who spearheaded the collaboration with Central’s engineering department.

The lecture and laboratory course is open to new and continuing MxCC students and CCSU students at part-time CCSU tuition rates. Full-time MxCC students are eligible to enroll in this course at no additional cost.

Interested MxCC students and prospective students should first register as a non-degree CCSU student before enrolling in the course. These students can then submit CCSU course registration forms directly to CCSU until online registration at CCSU begins on July 15. Starting on July 15, non-degree students can sign up for the course online via CCSU’s website.
