Mission and Goals
At Middlesex Community College and CT State Community College, College and Career Success courses initiate and support a student’s journey into higher education by providing and strengthening the foundation for academic and career success. Per CT State new policies for Fall 2023, new, first-time college students are required to take the College and Career Success course (CCS 101) in the first or second semester of their college program or before attaining 30 credits.
College and Career Success aims to acquaint students with higher education and to provide specific skills to maximize opportunities for academic success. The course includes navigating college, valuing diversity, exploring future career paths or options, and delivering strategies for success and resiliency.
Objectives
- Locate and use various college resources and engage in campus life to enhance learning.
- Apply skills and strategies to their courses and learning experiences.
- Identify majors and careers and formulate plans to achieve them.
