March 21, 2018 — Experience College Day, held on March 15, 2018, was a useful, informative, and enjoyable event for 122 high school students and 24 counselors who took a closer look at Middlesex Community College academic programs while getting a feel for campus life.
Middlesex faculty also led classroom presentations in accounting, computer information technology, early childhood education, new media, and veterinary technology for the visiting students.
“I really like the atmosphere of this campus. The presenters were easy to understand and kept it real,” said Jalene Ford of Meriden, Conn., who is also looking into taking a course at MxCC@Platt.
Rebecca Davis, MxCC enrollment management coordinator, said 15 students have already submitted applications after their visit, and several high school counselors remarked that they will definitely attend next year.
Donovan McCaleb of Cromwell, Conn, added, “I’ve also visited Syracuse, but I liked seeing a local school up close as well. The event was well organized, and the Center for New Media is very cool!”
The students came from 10 high schools in the towns of Cromwell, Deep River, Surhan, Haddam-Killingworth, Meriden, Middletown, Wallingford, and Westbrook.
Fall registration begins on May 15 for new students. Fall classes at MxCC begin on August 28, 2018. For more information, visit mxcc.edu.
