Proposal Title
New Course Proposal: EGR*250 Computational Methods for Engineering
Proposal Type
Request for Action (obtain approval)
Proposal Description/Rationale
EGR*250 Computational Methods for Engineering (3 credits)

The application of industry standard computational tools for problem solving, graphing and analyzing engineering data, and programming of formulae, procedures, and macros. Prerequisites: EGR*111, and MAT*254 or taken concurrently.

Engineering Science Program is a College of Technology (COT) Pathway program that allows students transfer to one of the four-year institutions that are part of the COT. The majority of our graduates transfer to CCSU and UConn. Lately, CCSU engineering departments modified their requirements to have students only take their ENGR 240 (Computational Methods for Engineering) rather than accepting a Java or C++ programming course like they previously did. The course was discussed at the “A to B Program” between MxCC and CCSU. Resulting from the discussions, the EGR 250 is created. The course is based on CCSU’s ENGR 240 so that students who intend to transfer to CCSU can take this course instead of CSC*105. Students can still select CSC*105 if they intend to transfer to UConn.
