Financial Aid & Scholarships

The Financial Aid Office at MxCC is located in Founders Hall, Room 132.

For students who may need assistance paying for tuition at Middlesex Community College, we offer financial aid programs for tuition and fees, books and supplies, transportation, personal and living expenses.

We calculate the student’s or the family’s ability to pay through a needs analysis system approved by the United States Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Our Financial Aid Office creates a “Financial Aid Package” for each student, made up of grants to cover the costs of tuition, fees and books for the fall and spring semesters only. In some cases, students may receive a Financial Aid Refund to defray a portion of the additional educational expenses.

Students are required to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form found on the MxCC web site to determine financial aid eligibility. The deadline for each spring semester is in December of the previous year; and the deadline for each fall semester is June 1 prior to the start of the semester. If you need assistance, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (860) 343-5741.

In general, financial aid usually comes in a combination of different kinds of assistance, including:
Grants & Scholarships — Monetary awards that you do not have to pay back
Work-Study — Students work and earn money while attending classes
Loans — Borrowed money from a bank or other institution, which you must repay with interest (note that we discourage student borrowing at the community college level)

In order to receive Financial Aid, a student must demonstrate need, be matriculated and enrolled in a program leading to a degree or certificate, demonstrate satisfactory academic progress in their program, and be registered for a minimum of three (3) credit hours per semester.
