Continuing Student Advising
During the school year, current students should first reach out to their assigned academic advisor for an advising appointment (usually, your program coordinator). You can find your assigned advisor by logging into myCommNet and accessing “DegreeWorks” or by reaching out to Elizabeth Slupski (email@example.com). Search for individual faculty and staff email addresses in our employee directory.
New Student Advising
New students looking to register for classes MUST complete New Student Orientation (NSO) first (https://mxcc.edu/nso/). This includes new students to college, transfer-in students to MxCC, readmit students, and non-degree students.
At the end of NSO, students will complete an Advising Form. This form will be directed to an intake advisor who will reach out to the student to schedule classes for their first semester.
Student must be prepared to pay for classes at the time of registration; a minimum of Fee payment will be expected at the time of course registration. Students expecting Financial Aid should check with Financial Aid regarding your status before registering. (Access Financial Aid status through myCommNet -> Banner Self-Service.)
New students who have questions, but are not looking to register, can book the New Student Inquiry appointments to connect with an advisor regarding programs and options at MxCC.
Career Development/Transfer Advising
Students who would like to discuss career or transfer options, as well as students with concerns adjusting to college, should book appointments using the links above. These appointments meet with staff in the CDCC.
Spring Classes Start January 22
Many of our spring semester classes start Friday, January 22. Students are encouraged to register for classes prior to this date. Continuing students should meet with their advisor prior to break to discuss classes. New students should complete New Student Orientation (https://mxcc.edu/nso/) and the Advising Intake Form to connect with an intake advisor.
Virtual Appointments & General Questions
Students can connect virtually with staff through email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Cisco WebEx virtual meeting space. Virtual appointments booked during this time will be conducted through Cisco WebEx. You will receive an email the next business day with information on how to connect to the WebEx virtual meeting. Students looking to book in-person appointments can do so using our In-Person Appointment calendar. This calendar also includes in-person appointments with the Financial Aid Office.
