May 7, 2019 (Middletown, Conn.) — On May 2, the Middlesex Community College Foundation held its annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony and awarded 94 scholarships totaling $89,400. Dean of Students Adrienne Maslin hosted the festive evening, with closing remarks by Foundation Board Chair Julé Crawford. The student recipients were chosen to receive assistance to further their educations by a dedicated scholarship committee that carefully followed the criteria set forth by former staff, alumni, and other friends of the college who established these generous funds over time.
Psychology studies student Aquia Brown-Welch of Meriden was thrilled to receive the Philip and Amy Wheaton Endowed Scholarship Award. “I have attended four schools before Middlesex, and I have not had opportunities at the others like I’ve had here at Middlesex. It has been great!” she said. “The guidance and helpfulness from everyone across the campus has been wonderful.”
