Middlesex Community College Earns 2022–2023 Military Spouse Friendly® School Designation

June 14, 2022 (Middletown, Conn.) — The national Military Friendly® organization has named Middlesex Community College as a 2022–2023 Military Spouse Friendly® School. The college earned this designation for their leading practices, outcomes and effective programs for military spouses. Earlier this year, the Middlesex received Gold level status as an overall Military Friendly School®.

“It’s been several years since we have been in school, so starting was a huge step for us. Being in the military, we use several different sources for tuition payment. The staff and faculty members at Middlesex were very helpful in guiding us through the process of beginning our education and helping us use the various resources that were available to us,” said Mark and Natalia Stuart, a married couple who both graduated from Middlesex in May 2022.

Military Friendly Spouse SchoolInstitutions earning the Military Spouse Friendly® School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey.

Middlesex Community College has been recognized as a Military Friendly® School since 2012 and enrolls up to 200 student veterans per semester. For more than a decade, these ratings have set the standard for colleges demonstrating positive employment and education outcomes for veterans and their families.

Interested military members, veterans and their family members can visit mxcc.edu/future-students/veterans for more information about educational resources available to them and their spouses.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory, the publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazine, with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community.

Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence and loan default rates for all students and specifically for student veterans.

“Schools that achieve this designation show true commitment and dedication in their efforts. Our standards assist schools by providing a benchmark that promotes positive educational outcomes, resources and support services,” said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships for the Military Friendly® organization.
