Feb. 17, 2021 (Middletown, Conn.) — Middlesex Community College has been awarded the 2021–2022 Silver Level Military Friendly® School designation. The Silver Level is defined as a school scoring within 20 percent of the 10th-ranked institution in the national survey for their category.
“It really personally means a lot to me to help all of our students who are serving or have served in the military,” said Peter Galgano, MxCC veterans outreach coordinator and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “Even though we are generations apart, there is a brotherhood and sisterhood between all of us. This is a bond that will last forever.”
MxCC has been recognized as a Military Friendly® School since 2012 and has enrolled up to 200 student veterans per semester. For more than a decade, these ratings have set the standard for colleges demonstrating positive employment and education outcomes for veterans and their families.
Because of the pandemic, Galgano said he has directly reached out to student veterans to offer help and assistance.
For more information about education benefits available for veterans and military members at MxCC, interested students can contact the Enrollment Services office at 860-343-5719 or visit the website.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,200 schools participated in the 2021–2022 survey with 747 earning the designation.
“Schools who achieve designation show true commitment and dedication in their efforts. Our standards assist schools by providing a benchmark that promotes positive educational outcomes, resources, and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community,” said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships at Military Friendly®.
The 2021–2022 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey response set and government/agency public data sources, within a logic based scoring assessment.

The survey is administered for free and is open to all post-secondary schools that wish to participate.
