Oct. 6, 2021 (Middletown, Conn.) — The Middlesex Community College Foundation presented its 10th anniversary Red Moon Fest fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021. Held outdoors in the Grove area of the Middletown campus, the event brought together more than 200 community members, alumni, faculty and staff who participated in person or virtually through an online auction or as sponsors.

As the MxCC Foundation’s largest event of the year, the Red Moon Fest raised more than $50,000 plus another $10,000 through in-kind donations. The funds support scholarships and other educational resources for students.

“The Red Moon Fest exceeded our expectations,” said Kimberly Hogan, MxCC dean of administration and co-host of the event. “We’re thrilled to have the support of our community to accomplish our goals and help our students succeed. Everyone at the college and the foundation extends their deep appreciation to those who gave so generously.”

Hogan, along with Rick Eriksen, professor at the college’s Center for New Media, co-hosted the event, which was also attended by Steven Minkler, MxCC CEO, and Laura Krueger, MxCC Foundation chair and Middlesex alumna.

The online silent auction featured a golf foursome package, dance and horseback riding lessons, African safari, original artwork, restaurant gift certificates and much more. The live auction included a Cape Cod trip, NFL tickets, wine gift baskets and many other items.

To highlight the college’s long-term relationship between Middlesex Health and the MxCC radiologic technology degree program, Vincent Capece Jr, president and CEO of Middlesex Health, served as honorary chair of the event.
