MxCC Office of Student Conduct

At MxCC, we value academic integrity and fostering a safe and secure environment where our students can learn and thrive. As one of the 17 state institutions under the direction of the Board of Regents (BOR), our Student Code of Conduct applies to all students attending the institution.

“This Student Code of Conduct (hereinafter the “Student Code” or “Code”) is intended to present a clear statement of student rights and responsibilities established by the Board of Regents for Higher Education. The BOR has charged the President of the Board of Regents for Higher Education with developing procedures to protect those rights and to address the abdication of responsibilities in collaboration with the four State Universities, the twelve Community Colleges and Charter Oak State College. The Student Code describes the types of acts that are not acceptable in an academic community.” (BOR/CSCU Student Code of Conduct)

Dr. Sara K. Hanson, Associate Dean of Student Development, serves as our campus Student Conduct Administrator. If you are involved in a student conduct matter, you will hear directly from Dr. Hanson. Please note that matters of student conduct are serious and should be addressed in a timely manner by both the campus staff and the student.

To see a complete list of prohibited conduct, please review the Student Code of Conduct in its entirety.

If a student needs an advocate throughout a conduct hearing or process, the college will work with the student to select an advisor from a group of trained and knowledgeable staff.

MxCC also uses restorative justice practices in our student conduct program. Restorative justice looks at ways an offender can repair a harm they have caused instead of or in addition to just accepting a sanction. Restorative justice does not apply to every situation, and never supersedes our Student Code of Conduct or the law. To learn more about restorative justice, please read this article from the Chronical of Higher Education: How One University Went All-In on Restorative Justice (chronicle.com) .
