April 22, 2016 – Connecticut’s manufacturing outlook continues to be one of the brightest spots in the economy, meaning skilled workers are in demand. To learn how to train for a manufacturing career or to increase skills for job advancement, Middlesex Community College invites prospective students to two upcoming manufacturing open house events: Tuesday, April 26, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the main Middlesex Community College campus in Middletown; and Monday, May 2, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wilcox Tech High School in Meriden. For more information, contact Hubert Godin at hgodin@mxcc.edu.
The open houses will feature a presentation of MxCC’s manufacturing program, which includes a Manufacturing Technology certificate or associate degree program. Each program includes hands-on training in CNC machine programming, blueprint reading, lean principles, computer aided drafting (CAD), tool room machinery, and other essential skills. Students who have completed these programs have enjoyed a higher rate of employment or have achieved significant advancement. Statewide more than 90 percent of students who were either unemployed or underemployed were able to obtain employment through manufacturing programs such as these.
This program is funded (or in-part) by a $15,000,000 Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. This Program is an equal opportunity employer/ program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
